This blog is purely a personal blog regarding my views on virtual worlds, games, and digital content. I occasionally talk about other aspects of life that are important to me, like politics, food, my family, and so on, but in no case does anything I post here represent any official views of Sparkplay Media, Iron Realms Entertainment, or me in my position as CEO of Sparkplay Media.

I noticed your interest in Virtual Worlds on your web page/blog and wanted to contact you regarding an event we are hosting on this topic. “Virtual Worlds – Real potential” takes place on Tuesday 5 December from 6pm to 8.30pm at 180 Strand, London WC2.
The high level speaker line up includes representatives from EMI, BBC, IBM, Rivers Run Red, and a virtual concert promoter. Full details can be found at www.musically.com/debate. The evening will be a fantastic networking opportunity with a chance to discuss further ideas over drinks and canapés after the presentation and panellists have finished.
In return for mentioning our event on your blog and/or website we would like to offer you a free place and the discounted association rate for your readers.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have about the event.
Many thanks
Darren Hall

Hi, we’re the providers of the software program Video Game Design Pro which helps game designers create and manage their Video Game Design documents.
I was specifically emailing you because I think that your blog, and its readers, would be interested in learning about a solution like ours and its benefits on the game design and development community.
If you could please tell your readers about it, ask them to offer suggestions for improvement, or just simply link to our site so they could download a trial, it would be enormously appreciated because your blog seems to be extremely popular and it holds a lot of sway within the game development community.
Before heading directly to our site to learn more about VGDP, why don’t you check out this funny “commercial” that we put together. It’s actually a nice (30 second) introduction to our program and concludes with a link to our site. http://www.thecorpament.com/Super%20Failure.htm
I look forward to hearing back from you, thanks!
P.S. - When the movie concludes it directs you to our website where you can download a trial version of the program or learn more about it…conversely, you could just go straight there: http://www.thecorpament.com/features.html

Hey there,
I’m Maria from Star Pirates, and I have been an ardent reader of your blog.
At, StarPirates.net, we provide a free space based MMO game that you can play from anywhere.
We always check your blog to stay “connected” to the industry.
We are offering a freebie, and it works like this –
One in every ten members who signs up from your blog gets thousand Star Pirates Points to build their ship.
It would be super cool if you could actually post in your blog about this freebie as this would benefit your readers immensely and would also help us a lot!
I know that you get a lot of people requesting you to post about their products on your blog, and I understand that you may not want all of them, so please treat this as a no obligation request.
Nevertheless, we’d love it if you posted about this Free Membership + Thousand Points on your blog!
I understand that you’re probably hard pressed for time and might not in most probability have the time to sit down and type a post for us, so we decided that we could give you a copy of a blog post format about the offer which has been written by our writers.
You could put that up if you want to after editing it and reviewing it, otherwise if you’d like it, even a fresh new version posted by you would be cool!
Here is a copy of what our content writer wrote:
We got a mail from the owners of StarPirates, a free space-based MMO-type game that you can run in your browser from your office or house.
They’ve offered our readers a freebie if they sign up:
If you click on this link here : http://www.starpirates.net/register.php?referer=-607
You’ll be entered into a draw automatically after setting up your character. One player in 10 who signs up from here will get 1000 StarPirates points to set up their Pirate. They’ll hold the draws in late January.
They apparently have a pretty steady community with lots of talk, and you can set up fleets - so if someone wants to setup a fleet for us then drop us a line and we’ll post the details up. That way other readers can join up if they want to.
Did I mention it’s free to play? Have Fun!
Thanks a ton!
Maria

Hi Matt,
Greetings!
I am Gaurav from India & I do hope you are enjoying the Holiday season
I am doing my MBA and as a part of my research project, I had certain queries on FreeToPlay browser based MMOs -
a) What would be integration costs for a F2P browser based MMO?
b) What could be typical Marketing/Branding & Communication costs for an MMO in US? (A ball park figure would be great!)
For the benefit of the readers, I also wanted to share a couple of links I have been referring to off late

Hello,
Fascinating blog. I’m currently putting together a report on various MUDs and their subscription models and from what I’ve read, you are one of the authorities on this.
Would you be interested to answer some of my questions or perhaps set up an interview?
Cheers,
Justin

well illustrates our dominance over the @#$@#% goodies, may their mothers be raped by pit bulls.
