There’s a wealth of media coming up that I’m looking forward to, and it feels like a joyful consolation for summer moving towards a close (though it stays summery here until mid to late October typically). In no particular order:
- Real Time With Bill Mahrer. It’s awesome that his first night back is tomorrow night, the night after the DNC ends.
- Mercenaries 2 (it came out a couple of days ago, but I haven’t got it yet)
- Entourage
- Heroes
- Viva Pinata 2. I was ranked around #35 globally in the first one, though I don’t think I’m going to have the time to compete with all the 12 year old girls. Nevertheless, I’m going to fill my garden with Sparrowmints, Chewnicorns and Dragonaches (or their Viva Pinata 2 equivalents) running/flying around being generally adorable. Then I’ll head outside and work on my actual garden which, while not quite as colorful, is still fairly charming.
- Spore
- True Blood (though I’m hesitant about this one. HBO’s record lately has not been great with new shows. I still want the three hours back that I spent watching three hours of “John from Cincinnati”)
- Californication. I almost feel guilty for liking this show so much as it’s fairly gratuitous, but it’s fun.
- The Office
- The Force Unleashed
- I WAS looking forward to the next Harry Potter movie (I recently watched them all for the first time) but of course that’s not happening for awhile now.
- Lego Batman
- Appaloosa. Ed Harris, Aragorn, and Jeremy Irons, in a Western! They’re all great to watch.
- The rest of the season of Mad Men and Weeds.

You? Harry Potter? You must be joking. You were always so anti-harry!

I know! But the director of the first two and producer of the first three was the previous tenant (for 11 years) in Sparkplay’s offices, so I felt compelled to check them out and started enjoying them. Unfortunately, the two he directed were my least favorite, but still kind of cool.

My garden is going to be more beautiful than yours. If not, please send me gold coins and dressed up pinatas. :>

Nope, I haven’t.

I don’t know how you can be up on Heroes after the last season. Loved Season 1- Brilliant! Season 2 was awful. I do live in hope. Weeds lost me after the first season.
How about Rock Band 2?
I agree on True Blood, but I did really like Generation Kill.
Dexter? I’ve been pleasantly surprised that it keeps working.
I’ve been down on Spore, I hope I’m wrong.
All the TV shows I like seem to run in the Summer now - The Closer, Burn Notice - very odd.
Californication is definitely a guilty pleasure… and I really wonder where they are going to go with it.
Dollhouse in January looks promising.

I’m not super excited about Rock Band 2 mainly because I don’t see anything in it that’s more fun than Rock Band 1. I don’t care about their new game modes. I care about the new songs, but those could have just been released as DLC for Rock Band 1. The improved controllers are nice too, but I’m not sure I see myself shelling out for them.

I’m moving up from Rock Band 1 on the PS2 since I finally bought an Xbox 360 this month. Some of the new modes, particularly for drum players, sound quite appealing.

How did you find yourself liking Spore and The Force Unleashed? I pre-ordered Spore and got to pick it up half a week early (Yay EB Games Australia!) and I found it fun, though it doesn’t have as much replayability as I hoped it would. I’m hoping that it was sort of like the frame work and that they will release DLC/expansions that expand the replayability. There really needs to be more to do in the space stage.
Also pre-ordered Force Unleashed, but after the reviews came out a few days before release, I canceled it and put the money on Saints Row 2 and Fable 2 instead.
Am looking forward to the new season of Entourage as well, but they tend to be delayed a while before being shown in Oz.

After Spore came out and I got comments from friends, I lost interest in it. Same with the Force Unleashed. Sad!
I’ve got Fable 2 now, but have only had time to put a couple of hours in.
