I made it to the last boss in lost planet and took all his energy completly away and he didn't die. I kept hitting and hitting him with no energy and he wouldn't die you probably did a good thing by sending it back to gamefly.

I happen to think Matt's devotion to Viva Pinata is a bit crazy, as I don't personally know anyone else who has gotten to the top 50 ranked people in the world in any major game.

Saying that, though, Viva Pinata has a worrying level of longevity - I tend to play it for a couple hours every few days, and have been doing since I bought it, and probably will be doing for months to come.

Psychochild,

As one of the people reposible for porting GUN to the PSP, we found it somewhat baffling as well. We did what we could, namely added some extra-big hints.

I've long suspected that part of the reason for this "hey, now things are *totally* different!" change in games is to sell more hint books.

I started playing Gun recently and finally got to the final boss; but, I had to defeat the boss in a way that was completely and utterly different than anything else in the game. I had to resort to GameFAQs.com to get the strategy to beat the boss, and even then it took quite a few tries. It was just annoying that the skills I had developed up until that point, mostly running and gunning, were not as useful in a battle in a restricted area where the boss was immune to my weapon fire.

I also suspect that some of these boss battles are developed near the end of the development cycle. The dev team and testers, who have been playing the game for years at this point, want to do something different and try to make something challenging. It ends up being too different and a bit too challenging.

My thoughts.

this reminds me of my expereince with the second mech warrior lone wolf game. You go through a game so short it feels like it should have been on a DS catridge and then you get some sort of screwy boss that you have to kill by mastering tactics you've had no experience with until that point.

And as long as talking pinatas don't make their way in to Achaea ypu can enjoy besting little girls as much as you want! I'm sure some of them are seriously hardcore...

How many Viva Pinata hours have you clocked now? From the sound of how much play you're getting out of it, I'm tempted to go get a 360 just to give it a spin. Heh.
