I do, I love it. Imperian just trivially (it’s a very simple system) put tobacco growing in, with the ability to then smoke that tobacco. It has no effects, and is much less potentially offensive than the highly-addictive gleam, one of the drugs in Achaea, but it still excites me when our games are able to stick in features that the EAs and hypocritical Wal-marts of the world would probably frown upon (while permitting ample amounts of violence of course). I’ve got less freedom when designing Earth Eternal, but EE it’s self-imposed insofar as the target audience is younger than our text MUDs and one doesn’t want to upset the bill-paying parents.

Bah, you mean EE is going to be a kiddy game? You’re killing me, Matt.
Kidding of course. I’m still waiting for some screen shots or something *urge*.

What Pentharian said. Your whole post about how being Indie rocks just got obliterated by mentioning EE. Now you’re going to get a bunch of posts that will go something like “EE!” *Squeal*

Heh heh. I’m telling you guys: If you like our text MUDs, you’re probably not going to get that excited about EE. It is the opposite of the text MUDs insofar as it’s focused heavily on player vs. environment (ie bashing) rather than PvP in the form of PK, politics, etc.

You’re forgetting the “god factor” You’re freaking Sarapis. You could probably say you’re making a steaming pile and just about everyone who plays Achaea and to a lessor (because you were not as interactive with the players there) extent the other three IRE games will be exicted about it until they get their hands on it anyways.

Just admit it. To fund EE you had to get one of the muds sponsored by Philip Morris.

EE is gonna rock, don’t listen to Matt, he’s out of his mind.

And here I was, hoping EE would be like an IRE MUD with graphics. Oh well, back to the daydreams.

Sorry about that Marc. An IRE text MUD with full 3d graphics would cost substantially more than World of Warcraft cost…..

I do have to agree with the “Matt is downplaying EE”-line. Recently I’ve swapped (forgive me) from text MUD’s to the EVE’s, Dofus’s and PirateKing’s of this world. These are three that - I - feel are different from your general WoW-clone bash-em-up game in that they (sometimes little, I have to admit) add something extra so you can “fill in the details”.
Matt, I expect nothing less (actually a lot more) from EE ! That being said, I expect Midkemia Online to pull me back to text MUD’s.

Bill-paying parents? That sounds like pay-per month to me. Shame.
